About us

IGS (full name Information Governance Support) was set up in April 2017 to assist schools and other public bodies in preparing for GDPR.  The new legislation required a much clearer focus on data protection, and for those less familiar with information governance it was challenging. 

We have a high assurance rating from the Information Commissioner and have the Clearmark Award for Excellence for handling subject access requests.  As we were involved in national working groups to assist in preparing for the new law, we were well placed to support others in understanding their responsibilities and providing tools to assist them in meeting the new accountability requirements.  Our specialist team are qualified and experienced practitioners in GDPR, Data Protection, Freedom of Information, Risk Management and Information Security.

In 2018 IGS won the ‘Innovation of the Year’ award at the national Information & Records Management Society awards for our Data Protection Officer Service for Schools.
